If YouTube ads are appearing despite having ProBlocker installed, the most common cause is outdated filter lists. YouTube periodically changes its ad delivery URLs to work around blockers. Updated filter lists contain the new rules. Follow these steps in order.

Step 1: Update Filter Lists

Click the ProBlocker icon in your browser toolbar
Click Options (or the gear icon)
Go to the Filter lists tab
Click Update now or Check for updates
Wait for the update to complete, then reload YouTube

Filter lists update automatically, but forcing a manual update ensures you have the latest rules if YouTube recently changed its ad delivery.

Step 2: Verify ProBlocker Is Active on YouTube

Navigate to youtube.com
Click the ProBlocker icon in your toolbar
Confirm the extension is enabled — the toggle should show "Active" or a green status
If it shows "Paused" or is disabled for youtube.com, re-enable it

Step 3: Clear Browser Cache

Open your browser's settings
Go to Privacy & Security → Clear browsing data
Select "Cached images and files" and "Cookies" for youtube.com
Clear the data, then reload YouTube

YouTube sometimes caches ad scripts. Clearing cache forces a fresh load with up-to-date rules.

Step 4: Disable Other Extensions Temporarily

Some extensions conflict with ProBlocker's blocking rules. Disable all other extensions temporarily and test whether YouTube ads are blocked. If they are, re-enable extensions one by one to identify which one causes the conflict.

Extensions to check: other ad blockers (having two ad blockers active can cause conflicts), VPNs, and privacy extensions.

Step 5: Reinstall ProBlocker

If none of the above works, reinstall ProBlocker:

Remove ProBlocker from your browser (right-click the icon → Remove from Chrome/Firefox)
Reinstall from the official store: Chrome Web Store
Test YouTube after reinstallation
