What Is Acceptable Ads?
The Acceptable Ads program was created by Eyeo GmbH, the company behind Adblock Plus. Advertisers who pay Eyeo and meet certain "non-intrusive" ad criteria are added to a whitelist that Adblock Plus uses to allow their ads through even when blocking is enabled. Large advertisers pay for inclusion; smaller ones may qualify for free whitelisting. Eyeo has stated that large advertisers account for the majority of its revenue.
In Adblock Plus, Acceptable Ads is enabled by default. Users can opt out in settings, but most do not — either by choice or because they don't find the setting.
Why ProBlocker Is Different
ProBlocker has never participated in any ad whitelisting program. We do not accept payment from advertisers. There are no "allowed" advertisers and no exceptions to blocking. This is verifiable: the source code is public on GitHub.
